Okay here goes whilst riding my bike the other day I was thinking about the state of the agile world and the now all too regular (insert agile framework) is dead. I myself have even been there and done a talk and shared a blog on here about it.

But why I thought why is something that, I believe anyway, was designed to improve quality, speed to market and connect business' to their customers getting such a bad press and failing so often, across various industries, countries and burning people out along the way?

Well I have no silver bullet for that, I have ideas gained from experience good and bad, but there is no quick fix. Sorry but Agile was never a silver bullet or quick fix it was and still is a better way of working, in my opinion. Rather than go over all the usual I thought how could I show how it works well in real life.

Then on Sunday afternoon it hit me whilst my eldest was enjoying the F1, each team is the perfect agile team.

They have clear responsibilities from driver & pit crew to the engineers and team boss, and more importantly they are all striving to meet the same goal and strategy laid out at the start of each season, but empowered to challenge and change.

Each team is pushing to win the race and the championship whether that be drivers or constructors. Each part of the team are able to own their role, they are specialists in their discipline. Who come together to create the best car they can for their customer the driver. Along the way they must deal with regulations, competitors, change in customer needs, set backs and obstacles. They reflect not only on each race but through data & customer feedback amend and tweak as each qualifying lap is undertaken. Then when the big release happens from the starting grid do they put their feet up and say well that's my job done? No they data is constantly monitored looking for any issues with cars performance, forecasting any changes in conditions to be prepared to make changes ensuring customer has the best experience.

This for me is the perfect example of a truly agile team from research & design through to live and incident management there is unity, alignment and ownership. Would you say that about your agile teams? Do they have the data and clarity of strategy to drive you company forward, and empowered to make decisions?

If not give me a call I am sure I can help.
